By Señor don Amador Braojos Madrid, Spain A visionary, Braojos, is a purist who works with large gemstones and mineral specimens combining them in sculptures with platinum, silver, brass and gold. In the words of the artist himself: "Technically my sculpture has its roots in jewelry. It is concrete, nevertheless, it is more sculptural. For a long time I have felt attracted by minerals in their natural form. I have found a beauty in them that had not been combined before with sculpture in a valid manner. The problem was how to combine minerals with metals in such a manner that they form a harmonic body with all of these materials contributing their own beauty with them opposing each other. Minerals are very beautiful in their natural state." The present unique sculpture in depicts a falcon in flight swooping down on his prey. The wings and body of the bird are carved of grey banded agate and chalcedony, the wings are edged in silver and set with numerous quartz crystal points. Raised on a huge black tourmaline (schorl) crystal base set into a cast sterling silver base. Height 24in Accompanied by a certificate from the artist stating that the falcon is a unique piece carved in grey agate with quartz, and tourmaline base, silver 925. Creation of Amador Braojos made in the year 2000. Dated Madrid 25 Feb 2000. Provenance: Retailed by the Enchanted Gallery, Del Mar, California
