Signature of possessio “Franciscus Aloysi Mazzali” on frontispiece who draws at the end of the work a beautiful manuscript drawing depicting the plan of the city of Reggio di Lombardia (Reggio Emilia), with the legend "outlined by me Francesco Luigi Mazzali" and with the toponyms of the most important places in the city. Title page with engraving. 1 folded plate out text. Head pieces and initials by Cassini. Many illustrations within the text. Good specimen.
Second edition corrected and expanded. The work deals with the language and the Etruscan alphabet. It was published by Amaduzzi, director of the press at the Congregation of Propaganda Fide in Rome. The Etruscan types were engraved by P. Bonarotius in about 1726 and subsequently handed over to the Propaganda press. This work was published for the first time by Amaduzzi in 1771, while this volume is the second edited and enlarged edition. Cicognara 2620. Graesse iv, 156. The volume belonged to Francesco Luigi Mazzali, born in Reggio on March 6, 1741, a well-known ecclesiastical character spoken by Girolamo Tiraboschi in the V tomo of "Biographical News Continuously of the Modes Library". Seconda edizione corretta ed ampliata. L’opera tratta della lingua e dell’alfabeto etrusco. Venne pubblicato da Amaduzzi, direttore della stampa presso la Congregazione di Propaganda Fide di Roma. I tipi etruschi furono incisi da P. Bonarotius circa nel 1726 e successivamente consegnati alla stampa della Propaganda.
