AN ARCHAIC BRONZE WINE VESSEL, ZUN WESTERN ZHOU the pear-shaped body rising from a short spreading foot to a widely flaring neck and everted rim, cast around the shoulder with a band of confronting birds on a leiwen ground divided by two animal masks, a twenty-nine-character inscription on the inside base, the bronze a mottled olive colour with encrustation 17cm, 6 3/4 in.
