With browned twist octagonal polygroove rifled barrels each with silver fore-sight and signed in full along the top flat, foliate scroll engraved case-hardened patent breeches each with back-sight and pierced engraved platinum plug, border engraved cased-hardened flat detented locks and dolphin hammers all decorated with foliate scrollwork, the former each with blued safety-catch and inscribed 'Manton & Son Patent', the interior of the locks brightly burnished, serial numbered and stamped with small locksmith's initials 'GM', lacquered finely figured half-stocks each with chequered rounded butt and dark horn fore-end cap, blued border engraved steel mounts decorated with foliage and comprising butt-caps, trigger-guards, trigger-plates each with pineapple-shaped finial, and turned rear ramrod-pipes, vacant silver escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons, blued set triggers and barrel-bolts, original brass-tipped ramrods, and in virtually unused condition: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including brass-mounted three-way powder-flask covered in red leather and in exceptional condition, original serial numbered bullet mould, combined mallet/cleaning rod with leather-faced head, and bone-mounted brush, the interior of the lid with maker's trade label, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle centred on a vacant brass escutcheon, the whole set in exceptional original condition throughout, London proof marks 23.9 cm. barrels
