An incomplete cast copper-alloy Late Early-Medieval disc brooch of Anglo-Scandinavian attribution dating c. 950-1000. The brooch is circular in plan, its front face decorated with a central circular recess inside a lozenge, around which is an ornate pattern of intricate Borre style interlace. On the reverse face of the brooch, a double pin lug and opposing catchplate are preserved intact-though the pin itself is missing in old damage. Condition: good, but with somewhat rough surfaces. Diameter: 28mm. Discussion: brooches of this form are common East Anglian finds, where they appear to have been mass produced. Provenance: from the collection of a metal detectorist.
