AN ITALIAN IVORY-INLAID AND POLYCHROME-DECORATED OLIVEWOOD, CEDARWOOD AND MARQUETRY SECRETAIRE-COMMODE, the shaped moulded rectangular top inlaid with a central cartouche-shaped panel depicting a king kneeling before a general with towns beyond, the angles inlaid with similar cartouches with reclining figures, one picking fruit, another resting upon a cornucopiae, above three long drawers inlaid with mythological scenes and flanked by winged putto, within line-inlaid borders and moulded edges, the secretaire-drawer enclosing a fitted parquetry interior with ten drawers, the sides inlaid with a further lozenge panel depicting Salome and another Old Testament scene, on a moulded plinth and later bun feet, restorations, 17th Century 56in. (142.5cm.) wide; 37½in. (95.5cm.) high; 27½in. (70cm.) deep
