Esemplare in buono stato di conservazione, restauro a porzione del margine superiore bianco delle prime due carte della prima opera legata. Legatura secentesca in vitello nocciola, piatti inquadrati da cornice a filetto dorata, angolari riccamente decorati in oro; al centro grande ferro in oro. Dorso restaurato con recupero degli originali tasselli in pelle al secondo e al terzo scomparto. Al frontespizio della prima opera timbro dei principi Oettingen-Wallenstein, di cui è nota la ricca biblioteca allestita nel castello di Harburg. Al contropiatto anteriore, oltre ad alcune antiche segnature del volume, ex libris in marocchino rosso di Estelle Doheny (asta Christie's New York, 17 ottobre 1988, lotto 1045). I opera: Editio princeps dell'Historia Romana. Per la stampa dell'Appiano, considerato uno dei prodotti più eleganti degli Estienne, furono utilizzati tutti e tre i diversi corpi dei grecs du roi realizzati nel 1541 da Claude Garamond II opera: Editio princeps delle opere del filosofo e martire Giustino. La collezione dei testi, di grande importanza per la storia delle antichità cristiane, comprende anche le due celebri Apologiae - composte nella forma e nello stile delle orazioni classiche e indirizzate ad Adriano e ad Antonino Pio - e il Dialogus cum Tryphone. On title page of the first work stamp of the principles Oettingen-Wallenstein, of which is known the rich library in the Harburg castle. On the front pastedown, besides early ownership inscription of the volume, ex libris in red morocco of Estelle Doheny (auction Christie's New York, 17th October 1988, lot n. 1045). For the printing of the Appiano, considered one of the most elegant product by Estienne, were used all the three different corpus of the grecs du roi made in 1541 by Claude Garamond II work: Editio princeps of the works by the philosopher and martyr Giustino. The collection of the texts, of great importance for the history of the Christian antiquities, contains also the two famous Apologiae - composed in the form and style of the classical orations and addressed to Adriano and Antonino Pio - and the Dialogus cum Tryphone.
