A LATE QING DYNASTY LACQUERED AND GILT ANCESTRAL SHRINE CABINET 39 X 16,5 X 27,5 Two hinged doors, each inset with a larger panel carved in high relief with gilded figures, trees and pavilions, and two smaller ones with floral motifs, the bottom with carved friezes of flowers, the interior framed by carved and gilt floral motifs, the internal wall finely painted with a landscape with rocks, trees, a sage on a bridge and an inscription. Provenance: an Italian private collection. This kind of cabinet was probably made in Canton to be exported to the Straits Chinese market of Singapore, Penang and Malacca.
