The results were transformative. The Hendriks Gallery exhibition held on his return cemented his reputation. Influenced by Theodor Schwenk's book 'Natural Chaos', Cooke adapted a spiral, vortex form as symbolic of natural, flowing process, and it recurs in his work of the time.
