BIBLE Biblia Latina. Individual leaf extracted from the fourth Vulgate edition of the Bible. . Individual leaf extracted from the fourth Vulgate edition of the Bible. Mainz: Johann Fust and Peter Schoeffer, 1462. 16 1/4 x 11 1/2 inches (41 x 30 cm); two columns of 48 lines printed in gothic type 5:118, with rubricated initials and chapter headings. Lightly tipped to one mat, some mat discoloration to margins, faint neat ink identification of the source of the leaf in the lower margin, in a two-sided frame. The leaf consisting of part of 2 Kings chapter 22, all of 23, and part of 24, beginning with the latter part of the repairing of the temple, all of Josias' casting out of idolatry in chapter 23, and part of the reign of Joakim in chapter 24. This was the first book to bear the name of its printers and the date of completion, and was executed by Peter Schoeffer, Gutenberg's collaborator. C
