Collation: [1-8 1 0 9-10 8 11-23 1 0 24-25 8 26-38 1 0 39 1 2 40-48 1 0 49 8 ] (1-10 Genesis-Ruth, 11-25 Kings-Psalms, 26-29 Proverbs-Maccabees, 40-49 New Testament, 49/8r colophon). 481 (of 482, without blank 49/2) leaves. 48 lines, double column. Type: 2:115G. 6-line initial opening some books in intertwining red and blue, other 2-6-line initials alternating in red or blue, red paragraph marks and capital strokes. (Occasional light brown staining, light red ink stain on 41/2v-3r, very small hole in first page affecting a few letters.) German vellum over pastepaper boards dyed green, gilt-stamped and with armorial stamp of Ferdinand, Baron Hoffman, on both covers (slightly rubbed), speckled edges. Provenance : early marginal annotations; Ferdinand, Baron Hoffman (1540-1607), with his large bookplate engraved by Lucas Kilian after Matthäus Gundelach and gilt armorial binding stamp. THE FIRST KOBERGER BIBLE, which follows the text of the Gutenberg Bible. This volume is from the library of Baron Hoffman, in its time one of the finest private collections in central Europe (E.P.
