Paris: D'Houry, 1746. Full French dark red morocco of the period, covers with the arms of Louis Philippe, Duc d'Orléans, framed with a fillet and two rolls, spine in compartments with raised bands, titled in the second but all others with the d'Orléans arms, all edges gilt. marbled endpapers. 6 5/8 x 3 3/4 inches (17 x 9.5 cm); 600 pp. One corner slightly rubbed. otherwise minute wear, generally a fine copy, with the D'Orléans bookplate and the book label of Cortland Bishop on the pastedown, and that of Oliver Henry Perkins on the verso. Louis Philippe ("le gros"), was born at Versailles in 1725 and became Duke of Orléans and head of the House of Orléans upon the death of his father on 1752. C
