FIRST EDITION of this history of Genoa. The Italian scholar and diplomat Bizarri (or Bizzarri) served the English crown in the late 1570s and later worked in the service of the Elector August of Saxony. His history of Genoa to 1578 includes a series of studies on expeditions or wars in which Genoa took part and sections on Genoese laws, and includes a long acount of Columbus and early Spanish exploration of the New World.
