Contemporary calf, rebacked to style retaining original endpapers. 10 1/2 x 8 inches (26.5 x 21 cm); 364 pp., 1 map and 8 plates (1 hand-colored). Bookplates, some staining, offsetting and spotting to plates, endpapers and first and final leaves. An important work of Braziliana, Mawe's Travels is the first to record the diamond and gold mines of Brazil. The plates depict views of the mines, the equipment used, as well as gemological specimens collected. C
