Precious Parisian edition. The work is a collection in 6 volumes, plus the seventh concerning the color plates, dealing with various topics to which the Count of Buffon was devoted. The first volume refers to the General Subjects and the Theory of Earth. The second volume is the second part of the topics addressed in the first volume. In the third we talk about mammals, with the second part of the subject addressed in the fourth volume, while in the fifth and sixth it is the birds. Buffon's naturalistic work and his theories would inspire successive generations of many naturalists, particularly Evolutionist Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin Pregevole edizione parigina. L’opera è una raccolta in 6 volumi, più il settimo concernente le tavole a colori, che tratta di diversi temi alla quale si dedicò il conte di Buffon. Il primo tomo fa riferimento alle Materie Generali e alla Teoria della Terra. Il secondo tomo è la seconda parte dei temi affrontati nel primo volume. Nel terzo si parla di mammiferi, con la seconda parte dell’argomento affrontato nel quarto volume, mentre nel quinto e sesto si tratta invece degli uccelli. L’opera naturalistica di Buffon e le sue teorie avrebbero ispirato generazioni successive di molti naturalisti, in particolar modo gli evoluzionisti Jean-Baptiste Lamarck e Charles Darwin
