"It must appear strange at this time to renew enquiry respecting the fate of M. de la Pérouse; but much more strange it is, that the circumstance I am about to mention did not many years ago excite the attention and enquiry which its importance demanded..." opens Burney's text, which analyzes the facts of La Pérouse's disappearance and D'Entrecasteaux's search for him. According to American Book Prices Current , no copies have sold at auction in at least 30 years, and the work is not in the Hill collection. Sabin 9310. VERY RARE.
