Engraved frontispiece portraits (the second folding) of Outacite and a Delaware Indian, 8 engraved folding maps. (First portrait laid down, some light mostly marginal worming to F6-T2 in first volume.) Contemporary calf (rebacked, light wear to corners). FIRST IRISH EDITION comprising a translation of the third volume of Histoire et description generale de la Nouvelle France. Father Charlevoix was a missionary among the Indians of Canada and his accounts vividly relate the details of the tribes' habits, customs, and religious rites.
