LIEUTENANT BRAGG REQUISITIONS ARTILLERY ORDNANCE A document from an unusually early point in the long career of the future Confederate General, who, as a young Lieutenant, saw heavy action in the Mexican-American War, winning three brevets: "Required for the use of Comp[an]y 'E,' 3rd Artillery,...the following ordnance stores...Blank Cartridges...100 Priming Tubes...I certify the above requisition is correct and that the articles are required for the use of the company..." After attending West Point, Bragg fought in the Seminole War, served on the frontier and in the Mexican-American War, but resigned in 1856 to run his Louisiana plantation. In 1861 he was commissioned a Colonel, and then a Major-General, in the Confederate Army and his long field carrer included the battles of Shiloh, Perryville, Stone's River, Chicamauga and Chattanooga. He surrendered with Jefferson Davis in May 1865.
