88 photographs, albumen print cartes-de-visite, each approximately 2 3/8 by 4 inches, all mounted to cards, most with photographer’s information printed on verso (including Brady, E, & H.T. Anthony, and Charles D. Fredericks), being images of notables of the period 1860-1870, a few photographs heavily retouched or after portraits or engravings of the individuals, some spotting and toning throughout, housed in full brown decorated calf album with brass clasps, wear to covers, one clasp missing. Includes images of ABRAHAM LINCOLN (retouched version of O-55), the LINCOLN FAMILY (composite image of O-93, plus Mary Todd and Robert Todd Lincoln), HANNIBAL HAMLIN, NATHAN BANKS, WINFIELD SCOTT, ULYSSES S. GRANT (after engraving), CHARLES DICKENS JOHN FREMONT, JESSE FREMONT, HENRY WAGNER HALLECK, DAVID PORTER W.T. SHERMAN (retouched), AMBROSE E. BURNSIDE, WILLIAM ROSECRANS, HORACE GREELEY, GENERAL JOHN E. WOOL, GENERAL JOHN DIX HENRY WARD BEECHER, WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT, EDWARD EVERETT LOUIS NAPOLEON AND EUGENIE, PRINCE ALBERT AND QUEEN VICTORIA, GENERAL JOE HOOKER, JEFFERSON DAVIS (retouched), ALEXANDER STEPHENS, P.G.T. BEAUREGARD, JOHN C. BRECKENRIDGE, and GEORGE MCCLELLAN, among others. At the end of an album is an intriguing image (lacking any imprint) of a group of ladies and gentlemen visiting what appears to be the site of a gold-mining operation.
