Aillaud, 1842. *** French Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire and an avid traveler and lover of antiquities, Choiseul-Gouffier first published his impressions of Greece and the Ottoman Empire as Voyage Pittoresque en Grece in 1782. In 1842, the work was posthumously republished as Voyage pittoresque dans l'Empire Ottoman. This second edition quite rare, with only the Atabey copy (selling for £14,000 in 2002) and one other in the auction records.
