"Shelburne, Mass. Feb 27" pmk., black "Boston Am. Pkt. Feb 29" exchange h.s. corrected to "Boston Br. Pkt. Mar ?" exchange h.s. on reverse, London transit and Le Havre backstamps, ms. "per Havre Steamer", but carried by the Cunard Line's packet Asia , this cover attempted to prepay only the basic 3c domestic postage, it went through the mails via England to France (Le Havre) from there the cover appears to have been carried privately to Malta, since the addressee is a minister, it is likely that this was a missionary letter - which were often hand carried by fellow missionaries to their final destination, likely sent via British Open Mail with only the U.S. 3c domestic postage prepaid and, therefore, treated as unpaid, very fine , with 1993 P.F. certificate, a fabulous cover, a unique 1851 Issue usage to Malta, worthy of the finest collection and a great exhibition piece, quite scarce photo
