cover 3c Dull Red (11), large margins to partly in at left, affixed to a small piece over a prior red "HONOLULU* U.S. Postage Paid *?" c.d.s. which in turn is affixed to a stampless cover from Hawaii to Burlington, Vt. which was then forwarded to Monroe, Mich., this style postmark confirms that U.S. postage was paid in Honolulu and also that the Honolulu Post Office accepted the paste-up of their Honolulu U.S. Postage Paid pmk., "San Francisco, CAL 16 Oct" arrival c.d.s. and matching mostly clear three-line "PAID/8/SHIP" h.s., the 3c stamp was applied as forwarding postage and is cancelled by "Burlington, Vt. Nov 13" c.d.s. which ties the stamp as well as the paste-up, slight ink erosion in the address, some light cover stains and a cover file fold at right, OTHERWISE VERY FINE, A VERY UNUSUAL COVER, A STAMPLESS COVER FROM HAWAII WITH BOTH THE HAWAIIAN AND U.S. POSTAGE PAID IN CASH, THE THREE-CENTS STAMP WAS USED TO PAY THE DOMESTIC FORWARDING POSTAGE, A VERY INTERESTING POSTAL HISTORY ITEM photo
