Contemporary calf (upper cover of vol. IV detached, some lettering-pieces lost, rubbed and scuffed). Provenance : Honourable William Henry Irby 1804 (bookplates). FIRST EDITION. The finely coloured plates depict all of the common British fish species as well as a number of rarer visitors: sun-fish, king-fish, electric-ray, and others.
