DRAYTON, Michael (1563-1631). A Chorographicall Description of all the Tracts, Rivers, Mountains, Forests, and other Parts of this Renowned Isle of Great Britain... [The second part, or continuance of Poly-Olbion...]. London: John Marriott, John Grismand and Thomas Dewe, 1622. 2 parts in one volume, 2° (281 x 187mm). Engraved allegorical frontispiece with letterpress explanation (both laid down), letterpress title with printers device, engraved portrait of Prince Henry, 30 double-page engraved maps, extra-illustrated with a cut-down portrait of Drayton by Hole mounted on verso of first title, and an equestrian portrait of Charles, Prince of Wales mounted on the verso of the second. (Several clean tears affecting maps 4 with slight loss, map of Rutland lacking right hand section, some dampstaining.) Later calf (re-backed, later endpapers). Provenance : Ormsby-Gore, Shropshire (Porkington Library label); together with a defective copy of the 1613 edition of the Poly-Olbion. FIRST EDITIONS, part I: third issue.
