ETRUSCHI. BIANCANI TAZZI, Giacomo. De pateris antiquorum ex schedis Iacobi Tatii Biancani sermo et epistolae.Bononiae, Ex Typ. De Franceschis, 1814 In folio, 366x245 mm; quarter calf binding. 32 plates engraved on copper out text. Damages on spine and on the borders of binding. Good copy with wide margins.
Rare first edition. The work was published only in 1814, about twenty years after the death of the author. The work represents the mirror of the vast and erudite Etruscological knowledge of Biancani Tazzi. It was brought to light thanks to the intervention of Filippo Schiassi, guardian of the Museum of Antiquity, who almost faithfully copied the manuscripts of Biancani Tazzi, adding to the savant apparatus some of his linguistic considerations on the readings of the names imprinted on the pateres and on some mitographic interpretation, widely using literary sources, but without any appreciable variations.
