C'est là qu'il acquiert sa maturité. En effet, l'obsession du cercle et de la flèche apparaît déjà comme une sorte d'alphabet personnel. Alphabet qui, tout au long de son oeuvre, fonctionnera comme un repère nécessaire à l'expression d'une conception particulière de l'être... Le travail de Farid Belkahia s'oriente dans une toute autre direction avec son retour au Maroc en 1952 où il est sollicité pour la direction de l'école des Beaux-Arts de Casablanca. Son grand intérêt pour la mémoire et le cheminement de l'homme à travers la tradition, qui ne cessa de s'amplifier, lui dicte très vite de créer des ate- liers pour l'enseignement de l'histoire de l'artisanat ma- rocain, depuis le travail du tapis et des bijoux en argent jusqu'à la céramique et la poterie. «La modernité, ne cessera-t-il de répéter, n'est per- ceptible qu'à partir d'une assimilation des valeurs an- ciennes.» Born in Marrakech in 1934, Farid Belkahia spent five years studying at the Fine Arts School of Paris, from 1954 to 1959, before leaving for Prague for a period of three years, where he gained his maturity. Indeed, the obsession for the circle and the arrow already appears as a sort of personal alphabet, which will function in all of his works as a necessary landmark for the expression of a particular conception of the being. Farid Belkahia's work takes another turn with his return in Morocco in 1952, where he is solicited for the direction of the Casa- blanca Fine Arts School. His longstanding and growing interest for memory and man's progression throughout tradition rapidly lead him to create workshops where history of Moroccan's craft was taught, from carpets to silver jewels and from ceramic to pottery. “Modernity, he kept on saying, can only be perceptible from an assimi- lation of values”.
