PERSE ANCIENNE [MODERNE]. PARIS: GIDE ET J. BAUDRY, NO DATE [1843-1854] A near-complete collection of plates from this work. The work was published in 2 parts, Perse moderne and Perse ancienne, and this collection comprises: Perse moderne, 96 lithographed plates (of 100), lacking no.20, 27, 37 and 52 Perse ancienne, engraved map and 241 plates, some double-page, plates numbered 1-229 with some bis plates (but no plate numbers 70, 87, 88, 100, 101, 146 or 187 – some or all of which (certainly the last) possibly never printed), the plates including an unnumbered plate of Persepolis and one numbered 150/1; together with 84 duplicate plates plates approx. 630 x 450mm., or vice versa, occasional slight spotting, bound in one volume nineteenth-century green morocco-backed cloth (slightly rubbed), 2 volumes contemporary morocco-backed boards (covers detached, rubbed, lacking spine and one cover), others unbound
