An approximately ¾-inch triangular Armalon segment removed from Command Module Odyssey after returning to Earth. Mounted on a Typed Signed Letter by Fred Haise. FRED HAISE'S provenance letter reads in part: "This segment of Armalon material displayed below was part of Command Module 'Odyssey' and went around the moon on the flight of Apollo XIII during April 11 to 17, 1970. Armalon was used for the body support covering on the Apollo Command Module crew couches and consisted of multiple layers of fiberglass Beta cloth which was impregnated and covered with Teflon.... At about 56 hours into the mission, an oxygen tank explosion in our Service Module caused a major loss of electrical power to the Command Module.... This event caused a scrub of the lunar landing and forced us to move into the Lunar Module in order to survive a four day journey around the moon and return back to earth. Countless individuals from NASA and our contractor teams worked around-the-clock to ensure our safe return."
