CGC certified: Good+ (2.5). Cream to off-white pages. No cover, story or art credits (Grand Comics Database speculates that one story may have been drawn by George Gregg). CGC census: 14 graded copies. GPAnalysis: Four reported sales, none in this grade, the most recent being a 5.0 copy sold for $1560 in July 2021. Bank Vault of Horror: This mag's bizarre skull cover is an overlooked classic of pre-Code craziness. The skull doubles as a savings & loan, complete with teller cages in the eye sockets. A dapper bandit, described in the blurb as "a perfect gentleman," mashes a lady's mug with his fist ("If I weren't a gentleman, I would shoot you!"). The cover story relates the exploits of Eddie Bentz, a book-collecting bandit of the Dillinger era who got away with over 150 robberies before earning a nice cozy reading room at Alcatraz. A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact [email protected] . Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to [email protected] .
