Liber de exemplis ac similitudinis rerum.
Cologne: Johann Koelhoff the Elder, c.1485. Folio (292 x 216 mm). 339 leaves of 512, 42 lines, double column, Gothic type, text capitals and paragraph-marks red capital strokes. Contemporary blind-tooled calf over wooden boards by the monastic bindery of the Cistercian Abbey of Brunbach, Abbey’s name stamped to covers, two brass clasps and catches. Condition : some tears and spots, browning mainly to margins, some creases; joints cracked, small holes to covers showing evidence of bosses and cornerpieces not intact, rubbed. Provenance : occasional ink notations, 18th-century inscription to opening leaf by the Carmelites of Trier; E.P. Goldschmidt (bookplate). a fine monastic binding from the goldschmidt collection. Giovanni da San Geminiano, preacher and writer, entered the Dominican order in Siena and was a teacher in Arezzo, Rome, and Siena. He spent his last years as a prior in the Convent of San Geminiano.
