Over the leaf appears the name of the addressee in Sefrou, with warning not to break the boycott and not open the letter on its way to the receiver. Rabbi Ezuz Maman, sage and bills counter in Fez in the 1740's. Ben Maman family in Morocco is regarded as descendants of the Rambam, Maman=Maimoni. The receiver of the letter: Rabbi Raphael Maman, (1810-1863) of Sefrou, holy ga'on, wealthy son in law of Rabbi Shmuel Elbaz – see enclosed material. Written widthwise (18 cm).
