JAMES, Silas. A Narrative of a Voyage to Arabia, India &c. ...in the years 1781, 82,83 and 84 , London: for the author, 1797. 8°, half title, engraved portrait frontispiece (title and preliminaries slightly waterstained, one or two spots), contemporary calf-backed marbled boards (waterstained and scuffed, upper joints cracked). Provenance : Robert Southey (1774-1843), half title signed and dated 'Nottingham, 2 Dec. 1815'. One of two equally rare issues which appeared in 1797, the other having a different title page, undated, and with a list of subscribers. [(?)HARGROVE, William] Some interesting Particulars of the Second voyage made by the Missionary ship The Duff; which was captured by the Buonaparte Privateer in the year 1800 , Knaresborough: printed and sold by Hargrove and Sons, 1809. 8° (occasional light spotting and browning, repair to G1 bottom right corner, small holes to G2 and H2), contemporary plum half calf (extremities rubbed), owner inscription in ink at head of title.
