The first two items contain some of his best music in this genre. The third item Ich lasse dich nicht is tentatively attributed in many sources to Bach’s uncle, Johann Christoph Bach. However, more recently the pendulum of attribution has swung back towards Johann Sebastian himself. If it is by him, it is regarded as a very early work indeed (see Wolff (2000), p.111).

PROVENANCE:Alfred Cortot (BWV 225, 228, Anhang III 159); Otto Haas (BWV 245)
