bronze with brown patina

Conceived in 1913-1915; this bronze cast in 1958 by the Modern Art Foundry
Provenance
Galerie Gerda Bassenge, Berlin, by 1965.
Acquired from the above by the family of the present owner.

Dr. Annette Seeler, who permanently updates the 2016 published catalog raisonné of the sculpture of Käthe Kollwitz (latest version of the supplementary online catalog of 2019), is, after examination of photos and other relevant material, of the opinion that the present sculpture is a 1958 cast from the original model, which is today in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
