"Despite its title, Kepler's 'Epitome astronomiae Copernicanae' was more an introduction to Keplerian than to Copernican astronomy. Cast in a catechatical form of questions and answers typical of 16th century astronomy textbooks, it treated all of heliocentric astronomy in a systematic way, including the relations now called Kepler's law's ... Schönes Exemplar. - Provenienz: Helmut Tenner (Heidelberg) Auktion 90, Kat.-Nr. 316 (1972) 3 in 1 vol. Vol. 1 and 3 in first edition, vol. 2 in title issue of the first edition (see Caspar). After the first part was published, the work was placed on the Index, and the second part in process of publication, was moved from Linz to Frankfurt where the second issue was published, with only the title-page changed. - Slight foxing and browning in places, few small old marginal restorations.
