London: for the author, 1723 FIRST EDITION, 2 volumes (of 3, see footnote), folio (344 x 219mm.), 4 folding engraved maps, and 44 plates (23 double-page or folding) by William Hogarth and others, licence leaf in vol.1, list of subscribers bound at end of vol.2, modern panelled calf, one folding plate (no.6) torn and repaired within image, occasional spotting or browning This first edition is complete in two volumes. A third volume did not appear until some years later, in 1732, when the second edition was published in three volumes.
