Title: Large collection of photographs of San Francisco prior to the 1906 earthquake Author: ** Place: Publisher: Date: Late 19th century or early 20th century Description: Large collection of approximately 125 photographs of identified San Francisco scenes, most approximately 7x9", a few smaller and a few folding panoramic views. Also included is are approximately 50 unidentified views, most smaller than the above. A wonderful collection of San Francisco scenes in the years and decades preceding the 1906 earthquake, includes several copy photographs of 1850s scenes by Fardon, most appear to be early 20th century copy photographs of 19th century images. Many produced by T.E. Hecht, with his studio name in the negative. Includes miscellaneous street scenes, views from hill tops, a few images of the celebration for California soldiers returning from the Philippines, President Theodore Roosevelt's visit to San Francisco, also a few photographs of early illustrations of San Francisco. A wealth of pre-earthquake information contained in these images. Lot Amendments Condition: Some curling and light wear; overall very good. Item number: 230805
