Manufacturer: Weller Artist: Ed Abel Description: Handsome Weller Aurelian vase done by former Rookwood decorator, Ed Abel. Pictured is a large, horned, dragon glaring ominously whose tail wraps around the vase, mingling with clouds. Impressed Weller and incised “Aurelian K” on the bottom. Signed by the artist on the top of the foot. Height 12 7/8 inches. There is a pinhead size glaze nick on the foot. Abel was one of the better figurative artist at Rookwood, working there from 1890 to 1895. He continued his quality work at Weller for a few years before returning to the Cincinnati area around 1905.
