Dillingham, 1885. 2° (342 x 256mm). 24 FINE CHROMOLITHOGRAPHIC PLATES after the author. (Occasional light offsetting onto text, one or two plates with tips of corners slightly creased or soiled.) Modern brown morocco, black morocco lettering-piece on spine (slightly scuffed); original green cloth front wrapper, with gilt orchid decoration, bound in, g.e. FIRST EDITION. Nissen BBI 1382; Stafleu & Cowan 6081. -- James H. VEITCH (1868-1907). Hortus Veitchii. A History of the Rise and Progress of the Nurseries of Messrs. James Veitch and Sons. London: James Veitch & Sons Ltd., 1906. Large 8° (275 x 187mm). Title in red and black, 50 PHOTOGRAVURE PLATES. (Slight spotting to title and a few preliminary leaves.) Original purple cloth, titled in gilt on spine (spine faded, corners slightly bumped). Second issue, "For Private Circulation only". London: James Veitch & Sons, 1887-94. 10 parts in 2 volumes, 8° (242 x 148mm). Engraved plates, several hand-coloured, chromolihtographic folding maps. (Some leaves loose.) Original publisher's cloth, covers with stamped in gilt with an orchid and monogram (rebacked, old spines laid down). Cf.
