folio (293 x 182mm.), printed in red and black, large woodcut of the royal arms on title-page, woodcut initials, typeset music, full-page wooodcut of the Crucifixion on N1v (slightly shaved at foredge), brown morocco tooled in period style by Clarke & Bedford, gilt edges, lacking leaves +5-10 (containing calendar), final leaf washed and with repaired marginal wormhole
A well-preserved copy of the final Missal to be printed in England, not long before the death of Queen Mary in 1558, with her armorial printed on the title-page.
Loosely inserted at the front are some printed extracts containing prayers for Catharine the Queen Dowager, Anne of Denmark (consort of King James VI and I) and the rest of the royal family.
