This edition with the appendix on the murder of Logan's family. (8vo) 20.7x12.5 cm (8¼x4¾"), period tree sheep, rebacked with tan calf, early morocco spine label. Third American Edition (so stated). Early American edition of Thomas Jefferson's most important book, considered one of America's first permanent literary and intellectual landmarks. This edition includes the appendix on the murder of Logan's family. Lacks the the frontispiece portrait and the large engraved folding map of Virginia. Formerly in the public library of Beverley, Mass., with bookplate dated 1856, old inkstamps, removal from rear pastedown. Howes J78. Lot Amendments Condition: Wear to corners; some foxing and soiling within, tape repair to front free endpaper, rear free endpaper detached; very good overall. Item number: 274395
