FIRST EDITION. Over published only one collection of decorative designs and many of those were based on the work of William Halfpenny It did, however, have 'considerable influence upon William Wrighte's Grotesque Architecture (1767) and to some degree contributed to the popularity of the Chinese grotto in Europe in the second half of the eighteenth century' (Archer p.337). Archer 233.1; Harris 606; RIBA 2346 . SEE PLATE II.
