Pen-and-ink and brown wash frontispiece depicting a medallion portrait of Luis I within the top branches of a tree with an elephant and a falconry scene below, title with royal coat-of-arms, 4 illustrations, 2 full-page, signed at the end Jacundo Cortladellas. 19th-century roan-backed boards, marbled edges (extremities rubbed). AN ATTRACTIVE EARLY 19TH-CENTURY MANUSCRIPT COPY OF THE ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT OF 1601, which is manuscrito 8285 in the Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid, published with a transcription and notes by Manuel Terrón Albarrán in Madrid, 1986. The work is divided into four books dealing with the hunting horse, the use of the two types of gun, the knowledge of rabies in dogs, and the cure for illnesses in both dogs and horses.
