FootnotesThe album was initially published in New Novels issue No.1 during the twenty-eighth year of Guangxu Reign (1902). Within the text, it is mentioned that the owner had been in Beijing during the Boxer Rebellion, and all the photos of the city and its people were taken by the owner himself. Consequently, the owner developed these photos on high-quality photographic paper and compiled them into an album. Readers who come across this album, even if they haven't been to Beijing, will feel as if they have experienced it firsthand. The album consists of a total of 64 photographs, including 37 images of palace buildings and 23 pictures of historical figures. Noteworthy photos featured in the album include "Signing of the Peace Protocol 1901 (The Chinese officials are Prince Ch'ing and Li Hung-chang," "The Old Empress Dowager at the time she returned from Hsi An Fu," "Yuan Shikai dressed in armor," "The Boxers," "Li Hongzhang's Family," and various other valuable photographs.

梁啓超光緒二十八年（1902）創辦《新小説》第一號，即以全頁為此影集刊登廣告：「庚子事變本主人時適在北京，一切情景及宮殿各景皆親自照出。兹特用上好照相紙曬成，合爲一巨冊。閲者得此，雖未至北京，而亦儼如親歷其境矣。曬成無多，欲快先覩者，請速購取，高林平太郎啓。」該冊於當時定價十八元出售。
