Wallace, Washington, D.C., 14 January 1935, 1 page, 4to, Senator's stationery, matching envelope , praising Senator Pittman, "a very fine gentleman" and regretting that "I didn't get a chance to see you before I left. But the organizations to which I belong almost pulled me apart and I had to spend the last few days in bed before I left home..."; TRUMAN. Typed letter signed as President, to his friend David H. Morgan, Washington, D.C., 20 March 1947, 1 page, 4to, White House stationery , a good letter dated eight days after he proclaimed the Truman Doctrine: "...Yes I have a statuette of the three Monkeys and I try to follow the advice set out by that statuette..." -- WILLIAM H. TAFT. Typed letter signed to Erastus Brainerd, New Haven, 20 June 1916, 1 page, 4to, personal stationery, a fine letter on the Presidential race between Wilson and Charles E. Hughes: "...One of the great assets we have in this fight is Hughes' campaigning ability and I am sure he can stir up the entire West, which will mean a sweeping victory...I consider his nomination a great...development for the Republican party..."; TAFT.
