Hailing from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Qin Feng graduated from the mural painting department at Shandong University of Art & Design in 1985. After spending several years in exhibiting and teaching in Beijing and Berlin, he moved to Boston in 1999. In 2007, he established the Beijing Museum of Contemporary Art and the next year became a researcher of contemporary art at Harvard University Asia Center.
His artistic endeavors delve into the intricate interplay between oriental and occidental cultures, employing various media and visual forms. His works garnered widespread exhibition and have been extensively collected by the significant institutions worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the British Museum and National Museum of China.
