Half-titles. 13 engraved plates, 2 of which hand-coloured and 7 folding. (Occasional light spotting.) Contemporary diced russia, sides with gilt rules, purple endpapers, sprinkled edges. A FINE COPY, collecting some of the author's better known work, primarily: his reconstruction of the pediments of the temple of Minerva on the Acropolis, a reconstruction of the chryselephantine statue of Minerva, and a reconstruction of Alexander the Great's funerary cart, the latter with a splendidly imaginative hand-coloured folding plate. Rare: ABPC records no copy selling at auction in over 30 years. Not in Blackmer. Brunet IV, 1003-4 (his works are 'very sought-after'). (2)
