R.H.B. (DATES UNKNOWN) SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS / HE KNEW HE COULD - AND HE MADE GOOD. 1927. 39 3/4x26 3/4 inches, 101x68 cm. Howe Citizenship Posters, East Milton, Massachusetts. Condition A-: minor repaired tears and restoration in margins; repaired pin holes at edges. A rare "Citizenship" poster designed to impress new immigrants with the tenets, challenges, strength and motivation of the society they were eager to join. This powerful image of Lindbergh in the Spirit of St. Louis , a "Ryan NYP," depicts one of the most famous events of the decade. The Ryan Aeronautical Company was based in San Diego, where the Spirit of St. Louis was built. Although designed to Lindbergh's specifications, this plane was based on the existing Ryan M-2. Ryan was purchased by the aerospace and defense technology company Northrop Grumman in 1999.
