Rome: nella Stamperia Pagliarini, 1791. 8vo., contemporary vellum, paper discoloured throughout, book plate of the German art historian Ernst Steinmann who specialized in the Italian Renaissance (2)Note: The Regola delli cinque ordini with the signature of James Naysmith, engineer, philosopher, artist and inventor famous for his development of the steam hammer, on the upper cover. The illustration shows the Villa Farnese, also known as Villa Caprarola of Cardinal Farnese, to whom this work is dedicated, on which Vignola worked from 1550s until his death in 1573.
