Doc. No. 23. Abert's report was included in Emory's Notes of a Military Reconnaissance from Fort Leavenworth... to San Diego, also published in 1848, and the map was incorporated into Emory's large map. Abert's map is "Map of the Territory of New Mexico made by order of Brig. Gen. S.W. Kearny, under instructions Lieut. W.H. Emory, U.S.T.E. by Lieut's. J.W. Abert and W.G.
